The Post Pirates of the Caribbean Syndrome

In which the author dreams of being a swash buckling pirate.

I had a dream. I never had one like this before. I felt so alive and happy in it.

There was a scene. A group of officers, gloating on how they caught a notorious bandit, I was an officer too. But when the had their backs turned, the bandit and I swam across the lake to the hill opposite where we meet another bandit. The officers realized we were gone, and gave chase but the horses wouldn’t cross the lake.

We were out of breath. I saw an informer running towards the commanding officer and whispered something to his ear. he smiled. I knew why he had smiled. The officers and their horses retreated back, I waved him goodbye.

Still patting we walked behind the hills. Someone screamed cut and I got out of character and laughed with the guys who were once bandits.

And then I woke.

For some odd reason of another I remember rather vividly that I was dressed like a swash buckling pirate with a red bandanna on my head and was speaking Tamil the whole time.

Maybe this is what they call a post Pirates of the Caribbean syndrome.
