David Gemmell Dies

I couldn’t help but do a google on ‘Troy, Shield of Thunder’ because frankly I can’t wait for this novel. The first one made a huge impression on me and reminded me that fantasy fiction is still very much alive and well today.

One of the results yielded a Wikipedia entry of David Gemmell. As I read through his career, I was saddened to know that he passed away on Friday 28th July, 2006. It stated that he was a heavy smoker and he died at the age of 57, 2 weeks after a heart bypass operation.

Well folks I never read any of David Gemmell other books in its entirety expect for ‘Troy, Lord of the Silver Bow’. Now upon hearing his death, I only wish he was alive to finish this great Trojan trilogy. But alas, all good things come to an end. I can only hope David finished his second book before his death and his publishers will publish it post humorously. And as for the last book ‘Troy, The Fall of Kings’ only time will tell.
