Pentax *ist DL

My New Camera.

Just a week ago I said I wasn’t getting a dSLR camera because of certain financial issues that was looming over my family. I even mentioned that I wasn’t going to spend that kind of money on my own self and I will do my best to help my dad out.

Well it seems like when you really want something, all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it. Yes folks I have bought a dSLR camera. I actually bought it on installment. I figure I could sacrifice my whole salary in an attempt to fuel my madly desires.

For a person who earns less than $500 a month I sure buy a lot of things. It’s so funny; I work hard every month even though I am a lance corporal in the army only to see my pay disappear on the same day I get it.

Now all I have to do is to pay every month $200 for my dell laptop, $110 for all my bills, $90 for my camera, and $70 for transport, which will leave me with absolutely $0 for my own personal expenses. And this doesn’t even take into account my driving lessons and other personal expenses.

Luckily I still manage to survive thanks to my freelance jobs, but lately they are far and few. Oh well if she wants me to suffer I am not going out without a fight.

Anyway if you guys and gals are wondering what camera I bought, I bought the Pentax *ist DL with a 18-55mm lens kit, 1 GB SD card, a $80 print voucher and a Tarmac camera bag for $999 at the IT show at Suntec City today.

Although I have short listed four cameras, the Nikon D50, the Canon EOS 350D, the Olympus E500 and the Pentax*ist DS, I found the Pentax *ist DL to be a real steal. I was kind of reluctant to buy it because I really wanted a Nikon D50 but in the end it was the price that determined my purchase. Not only had I got a great value for my money I saved close to $400 by purchasing the Pentax camera instead of Nikon D50 which sells for $1388.

With the money saved I can buy an extra game for my brother for the Xbox 360 (which I am getting on Thursday) and also maybe get an extra lens.

So far I am impressed by the simplicity and size of my camera. I have been playing with the auto functions mainly and I must say it really does a great job. Although there are so many things this camera can do, I am too tired to try them out today. I actually having a headache and my legs are aching for some odd reason even though I haven’t been running for the past one week.

Anyway it won’t be long before I will use my camera to take raw images and convert them to HDR and use it to render my 3D models. But for now I am going to concuss in my bed.

So till my next post ya, its bye from Ganz.
