Today marks the conclusion of the European Championships or Euro 2004. Greece against all odds claimed the biggest prize in European football. A solitary goal in the 57 minutes by Angelos Charisteas was enough to see the Greeks lift the greatest prize in European football.

Although many may dislike the way Greece played its football, they were certainly the most effective team in this championship.

Greece, the underdogs of the tournament have proven to the world that no one is to be written off. If there is a chance to win, then it’s a chance worth fighting for, no matter the odds. Given the 80-1 odds of winning the tournament. The Greeks believed that they had a chance. And this one chance has become a testament to their hard work and self belief.
