Marauding Loads of Durians and Dreams

The Books
Saturday. I returned to Kinokuniya Orchard to pick up where I had left off. I bought the continuation of Neil Gaiman’s ‘The Sandman series', notably vol.2 and vol.3. 'The Sandman Companion’ and Stephan Hawking’s ‘A Briefer History of Time’ caught my eye and I warranted them as my purchases.

The Covers

The Missing
While I was there I tried finding David Gemmell’s ‘Troy Shield of Thunder’ and ‘Legend’. But I couldn’t find these books and sought myself to other pleasures.

The Wants
Bill Bryson’s ‘A Short History of Nearly Everything: Special Illustrated Edition’ and 'The Singularity is Near' by Ray Kurzweil were both each selling for $56. I thought of buying one of these books but decided against it as I have spent far too much on books lately.

The Durians
I met my friend, Hong Kiat, at Kino and we later had our lunch (or was it dinner) at KFC. We headed to Kallang and congregated with the rest of the motley crew, Staff Desmond, Terry, Ah Siang, from Signal Institute. We stuffed ourselves with durians at Geylang and proceeded to catch a movie at Plaza Singapura.

The Movie
Upon our arrival, the shows were fully booked and we had no choice but to redirect ourselves to the newly open Cathay cinema that presides itself somewhere in one corner. We bought tickets for ‘Snakes on a Plane’ and watched the movie with Sara and his younger brother.

The Departure
The show was great but soured by the price of the tickets. But I guess that is why people say there is no business like Show business. After the movie we parted ways and I managed to get the last train back home.

The Dead
Reached home, showered and read a while before I headed to the land of Nod.

So till my next post ya, its bye from Ganz.
