Dinner with Mr. Ahmad
Well it was actually my idea for my class to get together to have dinner with Mr.Ahmad before he flew to Britain for his further studies. And for those of you who do not know who Mr. Ahmad is, he is my Animation guru from SP. The man I credit for being the catalyst for my interest in animation.
The whole thing started upon visiting Mr. Ahmad’s Blog site. Although I knew he was leaving for his further studies I had no idea when and also I didn’t want to impose him on his departure date. I guessed he would post it up on his blog site and I guessed right. But the problem was he was leaving on 14th, leaving me only the weekend to make the dinner preparations.
The initial idea was to get as many people as possible for a Saturday night dinner but it wasn’t to be. After a brief liaison session with the man himself, I quickly changed it to Sunday and consulted Phylliss on where to dine.
The funny thing was Phylliss who gave us the idea where to eat was not coming and I had no earthly idea where the Restaurant was. Luckily she gave us enough clues to find our way to the Restaurant.
Syazali, Andhika, Sidik, Hafizah, Latifa, Shahidah, Latiff, Yi Siang, Cheryl and her boyfriend, Jeffery, Kent and me were the only ones there. The rest of my classmates had other commitments and couldn’t make it. Not that I blame them of course, it was really a last ditch effort to gather friends to have dinner with Mr.Ahmad made possible only because of Syazali’s help.
Mr. Ahmad brought along his beautiful family and joined us for dinner at the Riverside Indonesian at Clarke Quay. The guys took a long time to decide what to eat. So I proposed that we choose the tour group package because we actually looked more like a tour group rather than a farewell committee.
While we waited for the food Mr.Ahmad caught up on old times. He also mentioned visiting some of our blog sites and no longer has the time to read blogs.
The food was great but we couldn’t finish all of it. Later those who bought their cameras for the occasion took photos. The bill arrived and I wanted to discreetly pay for it but Mr.Ahmad appeared suddenly and gave me some money to pay for the bill. Although I refused it, he would hear no part of it.
I couldn’t accept his gift and decided to give him back the money. Though he snaked away every time I wanted to give him the money, I soon found an opportunity and slipped the money into his kid’s bag when he was not looking.
Mr.Ahmad said he needed to buy some stuff and had to leave. So we said our farewells and wish him and his family all the best. After he took the cab, I messaged him about the money. He humored me, and thanked all the guys for coming for the dinner.
In short the dinner was great and on behalf of my class I wish Mr. Ahmad my best wishes and my fond farewell.
So till my next post ya, its bye from Ganz.
