An Exchange
After making the necessary arrangements I met Latiff on Saturday. We had dinner at a place he introduced me. We exchanged our stuff. He borrowed me his Evangelion anime DVDs and also three comics. And I handed him 125 episodes of Naruto.
I couldn’t be happier. I finally gotten my hands on the Evangelion anime DVDs. By its packaging alone, it sure justifies its price tag. This Anime was one of the most influential anime I have ever seen.
I got to know about this series through my lecturer Mr. Lau who thought me scriptwriting in polytechnic. After seeing the first episode, I remember asking or rather begging my friend Darius to borrow me the entire series.
I still remember the insanity of watching all the episodes of EVA in a one day. Ah those were the days. The only thing worse than a watching all the episodes of an anime series in a single day is to watch all three extended version of the Lord Of the Rings movies without ever stopping to go to the bathroom. And for your information, I did just that.
The comics Latiff borrowed me also were top notch. So far I only read one, Kingdom Come. This comic has to be one of the greatest comics I have ever read. It’s the type of comic that deserves respect and attention. Comic books no longer are for children.
These books today talk of more relevant things than most newspapers and politicians will want to admit. If we were to strip comics down to their core elements and methodology you will realize how hauntingly familiar they mimic our world.
So till my next post ya, its bye from Ganz.
